Finance minister Arun Jaitley is to deliver the valedictory address at the one-day BRICS Seminar on ‘Challenges in Developing the Bond market in BRICS’ in Mumbai today. He is expected to talk about ways to develop the corporate bond market and possibilities of sharing the best practices followed by BRICS countries.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is to hold today a historic meeting in the district of Murshidabad, within days of her party taking over the zilla parishad. The meeting will be held even as there is talk that more Congress leaders would join the party after her visit.

Today is the last date for interested candidates to apply for CAT 2016. Earlier, the earlier deadline of September 22 was extended to facilitate applicants as the Convenor of the examhad received several requests from them seeking an extension.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will launch two of the seven schemes under the State’s Saat Nishchay programme in Patna. The two schemes are ‘Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal’ (tap water to all households) and ‘Shauchalay Nirmaan — Ghar Ka Sammaan’ (toilets for every home).

Haryana is set to launch on Tuesday its e-kharid portal for procurement of paddy in the upcoming procurement season starting on October 1. Sources said the portal would be launched by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Union Minister for Food and Public Distribution Ram Bilas Paswan from either Karnal or Ambala.
