Greece was threatened with a potential exit from the euro currency zone, owing more than $270 billion to the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank and some eurozone nations. Cyprus was hit by the 2012-2013 financial crisis, and was extended a $13-billion bailout loan by the Eurogroup in return for closing the country's second largest bank and imposing a one-time deposit levy on all uninsured deposits.

N atwar Thakkar, noted Gandhian and social activist, will be given the 'Karmyogi Award' in recognition of his contribution towards the welfare of the people of Nagaland. A Model Salt Farm will be commissioned by Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala Sitharaman, at Marakanam in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday. This will be the third model salt farm to be set up in the country. It has been set up at a cost of Rs 35.49 lakh by the Salt Department and the Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar.
