A mega 'Make in India' week opens in Mumbai on Saturday. Heads of state from Sweden, Finland, Lithuania and Poland, along with 25 ministers of trade and industry from several countries including Japan and Germany, are to attend the event. The Prime Minister will interact with the global leaders and make a pitch for Make in India, which is in its second year.
India is to clash with Sri Lanka once again in the third and final T20 contest of the ongoing series in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
By-polls to 12 Assembly constituencies in eight states, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Karnataka and Maharashtra, will be held on Sunday. In UP, Muzzafarnagar, Deoband and Bikapur assembly seats, and in Karnataka Devadurga, Bidar and Hebbal will go for by-elections. By-elections will also be held in one Assembly constituency each in Punjab, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tripura, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh.
To mark the completion of one year in office on Sunday, the AAP government in Delhi will take questions and suggestions from the people at a public event on that day. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his cabinet ministers will also take questions on phone and present their report card briefing the people about their "achievements" during the past year.
A one-man committee headed by former bureaucrat Gautam Chatterjee is to submit by Saturday its inquiry report on the alleged irregularities in transfer of land to Associated Journal Ltd, which used to publish the now-defunct National Herald newspaper.
