The fifth phase of polling in the West Bengal Assembly elections gets underway in the districts of South 24 Parganas, Kolkata South and Hooghly on Saturday. Several contingents of central and state police forces have been deployed in these districts to maintain order. The sixth and final phase of polling in the state will happen on May 5. Counting of votes is scheduled for May 19.

The Tricolour will be permanently installed atop the Vice-Regal Lodge in Delhi University on Sunday on the occasion of the university’s Foundation Day. Radhika Vemula, mother of the deceased scholar from University of Hyderabad, Rohith Vemula, apart from UoH faculty members K.Y. Ratnam and Tathagat Sen Gupta, will be among the speakers at the meeting.
