Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to inaugurate work on Smart City projects in 20 cities by video-conferencing from Pune on Saturday. This will mark the execution of plans for 20 cities selected in the first round of the ‘smart city challenge’. Modi will launch 14 projects under Pune’s smart city. Another 69 projects will be launched in the other cities entailing a total investment of about ₹1,770 crore.

The China-backed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will hold its first annual meeting on Saturday and Sunday. Governors and representatives from the bank's 57 founding members will attend the meeting in Beijing. The AIIB, a rival to the US-led World Bank, will finance projects in the energy and environmental sectors, and support infrastructure in lesser-developed regions.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will begin a four-day visit to China on Sunday. Naidu will be leading a 13-member team from the state that will seek investments and explore possible tie-ups for the development of capital city Amaravati. The delegation will attend the World Economic Forum’s 10th annual meeting of New Champions in Tianjin city from June 26 to 29.
