Former Chief Justice of Bombay High Court V.S. Deshpande died here last night. He was 93.
Justice Deshpande became a judge of the Bombay High Court in 1967 and was elevated to the post of Chief Justice in the early 1980s.
He was the first Chief Justice of Bombay High Court to hail from Marathwada region of Maharashtra and was instrumental in the setting up of its Aurangabad Bench.
Justice Deshpande had also worked as Lokayukta of the State after his retirement in 1982. He is survived by a son and three daughters.
