Customs authorities at the Cochin international airport have seized one kg of smuggled gold valued at more than Rs 28 lakhs from an air passenger.
The passenger, who arrived from Singapore early this morning, had concealed the gold bar, cut into two pieces, inside his socks.
The passenger, who hails from Tamil Nadu, was ineligible for carrying gold duty-free as he was on a short visit, a Customs official said.
