Two business schools from South India bagged gold at the IMC Awards 2016, an annual competition that recognizes excellence in management education. Chennai-based Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) and Bengaluru-based IFIM Business School won the awards at the 7th Indian Management Conclave, held at IIM Ahmedabad on August 5-6.

Other winners were IMT Ghaziabad, NMIMS University, Jaipuria Institute and IIM Kashipur. More than 40 B-schools were in competition for these prestigious annual awards.

The awards were given based on three rounds of jury evaluation. The jury was chaired by MR Rao, Dean Emeritus, ISB and former director, IIM Bangalore. Other jury members were Rishikesha Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore, and Ranjan Banerjee, Dean, SPJIMR, Mumbai.

The management conclave was organised by MBAUniverse.com at IIM Ahmedabad.

For the theme ‘Academic leadership: approaches & frameworks’ the gold went to IFMR for its initiative titled: Institutional leadership efforts in strengthening the IFMR research eco-system. The silver went to Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad, for ‘institutionalising faculty research’. The bronze was bagged by Jaipuria Institute of Management for ‘academic leadership through innovative teaching & learning models’.

For the theme ‘leadership in corporate engagement’, the gold went to IFIM Business School for its initiative ‘purposing, mentoring and career winning – A holistic approach to management education’. The silver was bagged by NMIMS University, School of Business Management, Mumbai for ‘the integration challenge’. The bronze went to IIM Kashipur for ‘improving competitiveness through lean manufacturing.”
