The Income Tax department is set to overhaul its official website for better taxpayer interface and has invited suggestions from the public in order to make the portal more user friendly.
“The national website of the Income Tax department — www.incometaxindia.gov.in — is undergoing redevelopment. In this regard, the department is inviting suggestions from all the stakeholders on the design, facilities, contents and features that you would like to incorporate in the new website,” the department said in its invite to the public.
It said the suggestions from the public will be accepted till March 25 which have to be posted on the existing e-portal of the Department.
People interested in sending their comments on the subject will have to fill up their name, email-id and phone number mandatorily on the web portal and then post their comments.
“The department wants to launch the new I-T website as early as the start of the next fiscal which is post March 31. Once the suggestions are collected, they will be presented before a panel which has tax officials and information technology experts on-board,” a senior official said.
A number of taxpayer facilities such as links to e-filing, circulars and notices along with a grievance redressal mechanism are expected to reflect in the new and refurbished I-T website, the official said.
