Karti P Chidambaram, son of P Chidambaram, former Union Finance Minister, refuted media reports alleging that ED investigations into the Aircel-Maxis telecom deal had revealed that he had amassed wealth in India and abroad.
Karti told BusinessLine : “My businesses and myself are completely compliant with all regulations. My filings with the Income Tax authorities, the Registrar of Companies and the RBI are up to date.”
In a press release, he said: “One newspaper, which hardly has any circulation, has made allegations against me, which have been adequately refuted in the past. Myself and my business are fully compliant with the all the laws and regulations.”
In a separate statement, the Statutory Auditor for Advantage Strategic Consulting Pvt Ltd, which according to the media reports was associated with Karti, said Advantage Strategic “has nothing to do with the so called Aircel-Maxis case. All the transactions and assets of the company (Advantage Strategic) and its subsidiaries are duly recorded in their books of accounts. The companies are fully compliant with all statutory, regulatory requirements in all the jurisdictions. All their filings are up to date.”
Karti is neither a shareholder nor a director in Advantage Strategic, the auditor told BusinessLine .
