Quick service restaurant company KFC India, which is owned by Yum! Brands, reported 18 per cent year-on-year growth in system sales for the quarter ended December 2017.

This is the sixth consecutive quarter of positive same-store sales growth for KFC India.

Samir Menon, Managing Director, said: “With an 18 per cent system sales growth, the quarter ended December 2017 is the sixth consecutive quarter of positive system sales growth for India and area countries.

“The system sales growth for the year ended December 2017 is 9 per cent. This continued positive momentum gives us confidence in our focused efforts on innovating on our core, driving value offerings and continued operational excellence.”

Stating that the company is positive about 2018, he added: “We will continue to build on what’s working and channelise our energies on strengthening the momentum by leveraging our distinctive brand proposition and unlocking business growth through delivery and unit growth.”

Healthier menu

The brand has been focussed on introducing innovative and healthier menu in 2017. By the end of the first quarter of 2018, all KFC India restaurants will switch to rice bran oil as a cooking medium to improve the nutrition profile.

Pizza Hut

Meanwhile, Pizza Hut, the American fast food company’s other brand operating in the country, also registered an 18 per cent growth in system sales in India. For the year ended December, the system sales growth for Pizza Hut India stood at 10 per cent.
