Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital (KKCTH) is spending about ₹30 crore in renovation and new projects to transform into a Centre of Excellence in child care.
By the end of this fiscal, the hospital would have spent nearly ₹30 crore on this modernisation, a two-year programme. The funds were raised through donations, including the Trustees of the hospital, HT Parikh Foundation and Ray of Light Foundation, said S Chandramohan, CEO of KKCTH, during the Rose Day celebrations of the Hospital here.
The 200-bed hospital which has bought ₹1 crore worth of medical equipment in 2015-16 is planning to buy another ₹3 crore equipment this fiscal. It also inaugurated some of its new and renovated facilities including a newly-built bone marrow transplantation unit (BMTU), and a 40-bed neonatal intensive care unit . These were inaugurated by Deepak Parekh, Chairman, HDFC Ltd .
Leukaemia treatmentParekh applauded KKCTH for its 85 per cent success rate in childhood leukaemia treatment. “With India set to have the youngest workforce in the world, we need to invest in building strong children as our future assets. The Union government’s move to double healthcare spending in the coming years is in the right direction,” he added.
