After Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's visit on Thursday to the families of the Dalit youth who were thrashed for skinning a cow in Una, it was Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who played 'guest' today.

Post his interaction with the youth and their family members, Kejriwal hit out at the Gujarat government for acting against the dalits. Kejriwal also accused the Anandiben Patel-government for its anti-dalit propaganda and alleged that the incident had consent or directions from the State administration.

"This (Una thrashing) is not a lone incident but there are many such incidents happening in the State. It happened in presence of Police at the police station. It clearly shows there were consent and directions from the (State) administration. Why did the police not stop them," asked Kejriwal after meeting the families.

The AAP leader also met the dalit youth, who had attempted suicide and were admitted in Rajkot hospital. "The youth who attempted suicide say they are hopeless (about justice). We are in support of them and demand compensation and a government job for those beaten up," Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal's visit is seen as preparing the ground for his party in the 2017 Assembly polls in the State. In a bid to strike a balance, he also visited the family of police head constable, who was killed during the violent protests in Amreli earlier this week.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Gujarat Chief Minister had earlier visited the Dalit families in Una and the dalit youths in Rajkot hospitals.
