Abacus-based mental arithmetic programme provider, UCMAS, has announced its 16th National UCMAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition, to be held in Ahmedabad on August 19-20 at the Transtadia.

Over 7,000 kids in the age group of 4 to 13 years from across the country are likely to participate in the competition, 3,000 of whom will be from Gujarat.

Parallel to the national competition, the 13th state-level UCMAS Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition for Gujarat will also be conducted on the same dates and in the same venue, an official statement said here.

Representatives from the Limca Book of Records, the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records will document the mega event.

Set up in 1993 at Malaysia, UCMAS has trained more than 10 lakh students from over 2,000 centres across 25 states since 1999.

Dr. Snehal Karia, President & CEO - UCMAS India, said, "The 16th edition of the national competition is the ideal platform for children to showcase their mathematical talents and to develop a healthy competitive spirit early in life.”

UCMAS is a cognitive skills development programme using three learning styles - Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetics/ Tactile.

The programme assists Human Anatomy Development by improving functionality of 5 + 5 organs such as Spleen, Liver, Heart, Lungs, and Kidney which, in turn, affect the functionality of the stomach, gall bladder, small intestine, big intestine, and bladder respectively, the statement said.
