Visakhapatnam will be developed as the commercial capital of Andhra Pradesh , Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said.

He was participating in a video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi who launched integrated urban development projects from Pune on Saturday.  He said Visakhapatnam was not only important for the East Coast but for entire country. He lauded the smart city mission as an excellent initiative.

The CM who launched the command and control centre at GVMC told the Prime Minister that it would enable real-time monitoring through Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) of water and power supply, beach surveillance, traffic management, pollution levels, weather, and temperature.

Fibre net

Chandrababu Naidu said that as a part of Digital India campaign the State Government had launched A P Fibre Net to provide internet connectivity to each home.

In his presentation, Municipal Commissioner Pravin Kumar said the CCC, developed by Fluentgrid, would connect with other departments, to be used for real-time addressing of grievances and using AP Fibre grid network would make each electric pole a smart pole. The centre would enable civic administration to “drill down” to wards and streets to address various civic issues. Video surveillance would be increased from the present 50 to 1,500 cameras.
