Azure Power has announced that the company signed 150 MW of solar power implementation agreement with the Punjab Energy Agency under the State’s Solar Policy Phase III.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the company said it is the largest owner and operator of solar capacity in the State with 225 MW of capacity under various stages.
Inderpreet Wadhwa, founder and CEO, Azure Power, said, “We are the longest tenured private solar power operator in the country. We have won 150MW at ₹5.63 a unit.”
5,000 MW mark Meanwhile, solar power consultants Bridge to India said its research indicate solar power capacity has crossed the 5,000 MW mark.
“While total commissioned utility solar capacity in India reached 4,700 MW, rooftop capacity stands at 525 MW. In 2015 year to date, close to 2,000 MW solar capacity has been commissioned,” a statement from Bridge to India said.
