The BJP has said it will bring in prohibition in Tamil Nadu if voted to power.

Prohibition has become a major issue, with almost all parties promising to introduce it if voted to power. The BJP’s election vision document, released here on Thursday by Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari, also promised a separate budget for agriculture, facilitating ethanol blending, waiver of farmers’ loans, and a separate corporation for developing millets and turmeric.

It also assures an open and transparent industrial policy, a separate department to help self-grown industrial and business clusters, a single window clearance within 30 days to start MSME units, and efforts to market traditional businesses/products at the global level.

In the power sector, the document says that Tamil Nadu will be part of the UDAY scheme at the Centre and there will be uninterrupted power supply,.

It asserts the creation of LokAyuktha and a corruption free transparent administration.

A new textile policy will be announced and integrated textile parks will come up in different regions, the document said.

On the education front, the BJP said that yoga and meditation will be taught to students from class VI and all schools will be on par with the CBSE Syllabus.

All state highways will be converted into four lanes and connected with all district headquarters, the party said.

Gadkari said that in the next five years a total investment of ₹83,000 crore is being planned in the port sector in Tamil Nadu and a new port will come up at Colachel in southern Tamil Nadu.
