The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, today said all attempts would be made to start work on the proposed Thane Metro project this year itself and emphasised that there shall be no inordinate delay in completion of the project.
“We will make all attempts to start the work on Thane Metro project this year itself. There will be no inordinate delay in completion of the project unlike it happened in the case of Mumbai Metro One,” Fadnavis said.
He was addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the renovated Town Hall here.
Mumbai’s first metro service on 12-km Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar route had started last June. Work on the project had begun in 2008 and was delayed by a quite long time.
The route under the Thane project stretches from Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali.
Thane guardian minister Eknath Shinde said the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and PWD was ready to construct the district headquarters of the new Palghar.
