The Supreme Court will resume hearing the Rohingyas' petitions against deportation. Meanwhile, a fresh plea has been filed favouring the Centre's stand to identify and deport to Myanmar around 40,000 illegal Rohingya Muslims staying in the country. The Rohingyas—who fled to India after violence in the Western Rakhine State of Myanmar—have settled in Jammu, Hyderabad, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi–NCR and Rajasthan.

President Ram Nath Kovind will inaugurate the two-day North East Development Summit in Imphal today. The summit seeks to boost trade and investment in the region. A number of chief ministers and representatives from international finance agencies are expected to attend the summit.
