Seven start-ups made presentations at the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore’s (IIMB) ‘Start-up Connexions 2014’.

Executive PG course

‘Start-up Connexions 2014’ — part of the one-year full-time Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) course — saw I2India, a start-up incubation centre and venture capital, also gave insights on the struggles face by start-ups for funding and how their company helps start-ups grow.

Daily Dump, which works in the area of waste management, interacted with the students on how waste can be used for revenue generation. Other well-known start-ups in the area of e-commerce that attended the event were SellerworX and CBazaar.

Poonam Bir Kasturi, co-founder of Daily Dump said, “for start-ups, this is a great format. We get to meet young people, with work experience, who are willing to take risks and make change happen.”

The digital advertising domain was represented by ice cream labs. Other start-ups who attended the event were Budli, a re-commerce venture, and Gifting Nation, an e-commerce platform for gifts.

Providing platform

The ‘Start-up Connexions 2014’ saw, 58 students interact with start-ups. Many EPGP students, who are mid-career executives, attended the campus event and made presentations to the participants, highlighting their area of work, present and future goals and the roles they would like to offer.

“We are really pleased that Start-up Connexions has been able to provide a platform to EPGP students to interact with start-ups,” said Muthukumar Kandasamy, one of the organisers of the event.

Professor U Dinesh Kumar, Chairperson of IIMB’s EPGP, said: “Start-up Connexions is a great opportunity for the students who are looking for an alternative career path. We are happy to see students taking up enterprising career options.”
