City gas distributor Mahanagar Gas Ltd has increased the prices of piped natural gas and compressed natural gas with immediate effect, the company said in a press release.

"In view of the increase in input tax and consequent increase in gas cost, MGL is constrained to increase its CNG and Domestic PNG prices by Rs 0.85 per Kg and Rs 0.50 per SCM respectively with effect from midnight of December 3, 2016/early morning of December 4, 2016.

"Accordingly, revised CNG price will be Rs 40.82/Kg and base slab 1 domestic PNG price will be Rs 24.42/SCMin Mumbai. Also, increase of Rs 0.50 / SCM is being effected in slab 2 of domestic PNG prices. This price change is also being effected in the municipalities adjoining Mumbai after factoring in implications of local municipal Octroi/LBT and/or Cess rates. Revised prices (inclusive of local taxes) of CNG shall be in the range of Rs 40.82/Kg to Rs 41.58/Kg and of domestic PNG shall be in the range of Rs 24.42/SCM toRs 24.63/SCM (base slab 1) in the areas / municipalities adjoining Mumbai," the statement said.

Indraprastha Gas Ltd hiked CNG price by Rs 1.85 per kg in in Delhi and Rs 2.15 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

The new consumer price of Rs 37.30 per kg in Delhi and Rs 42.75 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be effective from midnight tonight, the company said in a statement.
