Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said she wouldn’t tolerate any disturbance to industrial peace.
“Industry and industrialists need to be protected. Any form of disturbance to industrial peace will not be tolerated,” she said at the commissioning of the punched grid battery making unit of Exide Industries at Haldia.
No disruption In a sharp contrast to the Left rule, no man-days have been lost in Bengal since Banerjee came to power in 2011.
“Do not indulge in cheap politics like before and hinder industry,” the CM added sending out a clear message to “all”, including her party members. According to Banerjee, demonetisation has lead to job losses across sectors.
‘Traders hit most’ MSMEs and traders were amongst the worst affected. In this circumstances industry, specifically manufacturing, has the capacity to ensure employment generation. The Chief Minister announced the setting up of an international convention centre – complete with budget and premium hotels – at the sea resort of Digha. Construction major L&T will be executing the project.
“The Kolkata convention centre at Rajarhat is set for inauguration on April. A similar one will also be coming up here at Digha,” she said.
