Top officials of car maker Maruti Suzuki on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in Gandhinagar.

Maruti Suzuki India chairman, R C Bhargava joined by Managing Director, Kenichi Ayukawa met the Chief Minister and apprised him about the progress of the company's new vehicle assembly plant coming up at Hansalpur near Mehsana.

The chief minister suggested the officials to recruit local youth and provide them skill training thereby providing an employment opportunity to them, it added.

The first assembly line at the Hansalpur plant will initially have annual capacity of 1.50 lakh cars, while the total capacity of the plant is planned to be 7.50 lakh cars a year. The plant is being set up by a local subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Suzuki Motor Gujarat, to supply the cars exclusively to Maruti Suzuki.

The plant, which is likely to start trial productions in January-March 2017, will make company's Baleno model initially.
