“Decisiveness” and the “absence of corruption” are among the top achievements of the two-year-old Narendra Modi government, BJP President Amit Shah said on Friday, while also confirming that a Cabinet reshuffle was on the cards.

The BJP President’s detailing of the government’s focus on welfare as well as reform measures was part of the ruling party’s public outreach programme at the end of its two-year tenure. Prime Minister Modi is addressing scheduled rallies while starting Saturday, 30 BJP teams comprising ministers and party office-bearers will travel across more than 200 destinations to publicise the government’s “achievements”.

Shah said a strong foundation had been laid for the future in the last two years with the government infusing hope across all sectors with its “decisive” and “corruption free” rule. “There is hope after the last government’s ten-year rule, which left behind an empty treasury, policy paralysis, demoralised bureaucracy, despondent masses and a state of hopelessness. This government has struck a balance between reforms and public welfare and got success,” Shah said.

He cited a string of figures, including the highest-ever urea and power production, highways construction, FDI inflow, forex reserves levels in 2015-16, besides pro-poor and farmer schemes to underline his point.

“We have given a decisive government. A government that can take decisions and has the political will to execute them. After a long time, there is a government like this,” he said, adding that it was also a responsive government and cited the NEET Ordinance as an example.

He also appealed to all parties to support legislations and measures related to the “agenda of development”.

‘A vote against rows’

Shah also pitched the party’s “good” performance in the Assembly polls as a referendum of the people issues such as the Rohith Vemula suicide and the JNU row and took on Congress, saying those who raised them are “nowhere”.

Referring to a number of Assembly polls the party fought under him since it came to power, Shah said people put their stamp of approval on the Centre’s performance whenever they got a chance as he noted that it formed governments in five States for the first time and preformed better than earlier everywhere.

Cabinet rejig

Although refusing to divulge when the reshuffle in the Cabinet and the BJP organisation will take place, the BJP chief indicated that States going to the polls in 2017 will be factored in during the process.
