The Telangana Government has set up a watch tower and tourist view point at Nellikal Forest block near the Nagarjunasagar dam on the Krishna river.

This site is expected to facilitate in monitoring wildlife activities including movement of animals, detection of first fires and protection of resources.

M C Pargaien, Field Director, Amrabad Tiger Reserve, opened the watch tower and view point on Saturday.

Located at a distance of 5 km from Nagarjunsagar and elevation of 1050 feet above sea level, this view point also provides excellent panoramic view of the Nagarjunsagar reservoir and adjoining dense forests.

This site is being developed as an eco tourism location for visitors coming to Nagarjunsagar.

The route from main road after covering 2.5 km is being developed as walking track with basic visitors amenities.

Once completed, this location is expected to attract tourists visiting Nagarjunsagar to enjoy the serene natural environs.

This move comes within days of the Forest Department commissioning another tourist spot in the Amrabad forest range.
