Opposition barring the Trinamool Congress are yet to confirm their attendance at the Centre’s GST event.
The Left parties have made it clear that the GST’s implementation should not be hurried with, and wants the Opposition to unite on the matter. However since a decision has not been forthcoming from principal Opposition Congress, the Left is yet to announce its decision.
A senior Left leader, however, said that they may not participate in the meeting. “We cannot celebrate it when there are protests by traders, weavers, artisans and trade unions against the GST,” the leader said.
A informal discussion was held by Opposition parties on the issue soon after presidential candidate Meira Kumar submitted her nomination papers. Congress president Sonia Gandhi is learnt to have told other parties that her party would soon take a decision.
