Union HRD Minister M.M. Pallam Raju has said the UPA Government will take steps to implement the Right to Compulsory Primary Education Act by March. He was speaking at Sarpavaram near here on Sunday after visiting the areas hit by recent heavy rains and floods. He said India had the advantage of having the youngest population in the world, but the youth should be given proper education and training to excel in different fields.
More NITs and IITs would be set up in the country and special efforts would be made to impart vocational training to the youth. He distributed 20 kilos of rice to those affected by the floods. He promised that all relief measures would be taken to mitigate their suffering. He said the crop insurance scheme would be modified to help more farmers in the event of natural calamities.
