Public sector undertakings should adopt the best practices of the cooperative sector, said SR Satishchandra, president of the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) Ltd.
Speaking at a training programme on GST (goods and services tax) for the officers and office-bearers of Souharda cooperative societies of Dakshina Kannada district in Mangaluru on Thursday, the Campco chief said many institutions in the cooperative sector are performing well at a time when many of the public sector undertakings are suffering losses.
He said the governments should take note of the best practices in cooperative institutions such as Amul, Iffco, and Campco.
Hema G Nayak, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Commercial Taxes Department, Mangaluru, who inaugurated the programme, delivered the keynote address.
The training programme was organised by the Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd.
