Newly-appointed Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Monday carried out portfolio allocations to his 24-member council of ministers.

Ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit to be held in 2017, Rupani kept the Industries portfolio to himself, besides General Administration, Home, Science and Technology, Climate Change, Mines and Minerals and Ports besides several others.

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel was allocated portfolios of Finance, Urban Development and Petrochemicals besides Urban Housing, Roads and Buildings and Narmada, among others.

Sapariya gets agriculture First-time Cabinet minister Chiman Sapariya has been allocated the important Agriculture and Energy portfolios.

Notably, since 2002, the energy portfolio had been held by Saurabh Patel, who was not given a ministerial berth in the Rupani Cabinet.

The crucial ministries of Revenue and Education was allocated to senior minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, while Shankar Chaudhary was given independent charge of Health and Family Welfare, along with medical education and environment.

Pradipsinh Jadeja was made Minister of State for Home and Energy.

Among other important allocations, Ishwarbhai Patel has been allocated Cooperation; Vallabh Kakadia, Transport; Rajendra Trivedi, Sports and Culture; Ganpat Vasava, Tribal Development, Tourism and Forests; Babubhai Bokhiria, Water Supply and Gau-samwardhan.
