Tata Trust has joined hands with the Andhra Pradesh Government to accelerate the Rural Prosperity Mission, in which the World Bank is a strategic partner.

An MoU was signed between the Tata Trust and the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty of the State Government in the presence of the Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada.

World Bank is supporting the CM’s vision of ensuring a net income of Rs 10,000 per month for each self-help group (SHG) household.

A Centre of Excellence for Rural Prosperity will be established to study and catalyse practical applications of technology across agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, handloom and non-farm enterprises, according to a press release.

All the relevant technology, strategy and capacity building will be supported by a collaboration of the stakeholders, World Bank, Tata Trusts, SERP and AP State Development Planning Society (APSDPS).

Training in enterprise and business sense will be provided by International Labour Organisation (ILO) and Kerala-based Kudumbashree, while skill development, training and placement facilities will be supported by IL&FS.

Cerner to establish Knowledge Command Centre:

The US based Cerner and the State Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare (HM&FW) have signed a MoU. Accordingly, Cerner will supply Health Information Exchange (HIE) services, to analyse data from the ongoing health programs and provide policy recommendations.

The AP Government intends to provide every citizen access to their health information through digitisation. A Knowledge Command Centre will be established, to help coordinate the HIE procedures. In addition the information would be used to prevent or tackle health epidemics.

Jitendra Sharma, Advisor to GoAP (Health and Medical Technology) said, "Digitisation will help identify disease hotspots, which can lead to early interventions, and will significantly lower the rate of hospitalization."

This agreement is valid for three years and will cost the State Government Rs 18 lakhs per month, the release said
