Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry, under its Sustainable Chennai Forum (SCF), jointly with UN-Habitat, will initiate discussions under Urban Thinkers Campus on November 9 and 10 to find ways and means to make Chennai ‘a global city’.

For the first time, Urban Thinkers Campus will be held in the city. The event is ‘powered by’ The Hindu BusinessLine.

Urban Thinkers Campus will coincide with sixth anniversary celebrations of SCF and will prepare a roadmap and an action plan towards implementation of New Urban Agenda through urban thinker sessions, urban labs and roundtables. The findings of conference will be submitted to Tamil Nadu government, a press release from the Chamber said.

here will be sessions on three different themes — Resilience & Smart Cities; Inclusion, City's Expansion and Social Infrastructure, and Global Investment Destination & Governance.

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will be the chief guest for the valedictory session on November 10.

National Institute of Urban Affairs, New Delhi and IMaCS, Chennai, are Knowledge Partners while the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras is the associate partner. Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority is the principal supporter of the event, the release said.
