National Skill Development Corporation will be funding around ₹3 crore to each of the 14 winners of the National Innovation Skills Challenge (NISC) 2014.

“The shortlisted companies will under-go a due diligence process with NSDC, post which we will partner with them in different capacities in skill training, besides giving them actual funding,” said Dilip Chenoy, MD and CEO of National Skill Development Corporation, in a press statement. The challenge was kicked off by NSDC in August last year to identify and invest in 10 to 15 innovative fundable enterprises that are robust and have sustainable models. These organisations would bring positive change in the skill development ecosystem by achieving faster and inclusive growth for India.

The winners were selected from 172 applicants who were screened for fitment to the challenge. About 52 applicants moved to the next stage where they had to submit a 10-year-business-model. After a rigorous evaluation, 34 finalists were selected across categories. Field verification was done by NSDC for all finalists, who also received mentoring support.

Some of the winners of NISC include Babajob Services – a job portal that focuses on job opportunities for women; Centurion University of Technology and Management with a focus on agriculture sector; Lets Corp – a career platform that focuses on skill mapping and career planning; and Skillveri – a scalable simulation platform for multiple vocational skills.
