KS Hegde Medical Academy at Deralakatte in Mangaluru taluk conducted a two-day workshop on geographic information system (GIS) and public health recently. A press release said here that the resource persons introduced the use of GIS, its relevance to public health, and the importance and use of technology in public health at the workshop. They also gave information on online portals and sites from where the delegates could get reliable geographic data. It was also proposed to hold a national-level workshop on specific GIS themes in early 2018. S Ramananda Shetty, Vice-Chancellor of Nitte University, inaugurated the workshop.
