Nokia and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd will be enabling an Internet Protocol/Multiprotocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) network to support the management of its electrical grid in North and North-west Delhi. This is Tata Power-DDL’s area of operation, according to a press statement.
The statement said that the deployment has enabled Tata Power-DDL to support mission-critical operational services as well as traditional business and IT services all on a single communications network. Teleprotection makes it possible to detect the presence of faults and trip breakers to isolate a certain section of the grid, containing the impact of the fault to a localised region.
The network also supports an Integrated Surveillance System, Distribution Management System, and Distribution Automation, among others.
