The Ahmedabad-based company, Ultra Rich Weddings Pvt Ltd, launched in 2011, has already organised three such ultra-rich marriages with a client’s highest wedding budget being Rs 80 lakh, Saurabh Goswami, Managing Director, told Business Line . Its division, Ultra Matrimony, organises marriages for lesser budgets.
Interestingly, Goswami, 29, is yet to plan his own marriage!
His company has so far organised over 100 marriages since 2011 in both the segments. About 1,000 persons seeking a match have so far registered with his firm, which offers different packages, including the Royal Package to those falling in the income category of Rs 100 crore or more. “We take a certificate from a chartered accountant to ascertain the net worth of a client, after deducting the pending liabilities.”
The company registers a client for three months for a fee of Rs 15,000 and claims to find a “perfect match” within two months in 90 per cent of the cases.
The niche online matrimonial business was chosen as a case study in the ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition in 2013, from among 98 cases submitted globally, and is due for publication this month, Goswami said.
Citing a Crisil report that India had nearly 2.8 lakh ultra high net worth individuals (UHNIs) in 2011, he said his company is targeting this client base. UltraRich charges 12 per cent of the total marriage budget as its fee for wedding planning and has a 4-5 per cent net profit.
It has tied up with 35,000 vendors providing different services — right from astrologers to band-baja-baraat and beyond — in various towns and cities across India. In Ahmedabad alone, it has nearly 150 service-providers in the wedding season and organised associates locally in various cities.
Among the services on offer are the first meeting between the two potential partners, horoscope-matching, 'unlimited' video chat, privacy of data, assigning a personal relationship manager to each client, filtered profiles to save on time, 'after marriage services', '100 per cent money-back guarantee' and assured gifts and gift vouchers.
