Six organs of a brain dead woman were donated and are likely to provide a new lease of life to six other persons.
Global Hospitals here performed the operation on Lingampeta Sharada, a 45-year-old woman labourer from Nizamabad district, who was brought dead to the hospital. Her family members were counselled to donate her organs which they agreed.
“Her son, Suresh, agreed to donate his mother’s organs after being counselled by members of Jeevandan and Mohan Foundation,” Dr. Hirendranath, Vice President, Medical Services and Operations, Global Hospitals said in a statement.
“We could retrieve her kidneys, liver, corneas and heart valves,” he added.
These organs would later be transplanted to other patients at Global hospital and for patient in Deccan Hospital, the eyes were sent to L.V. Prasad Eye Institute and Heart Valves to Innova Hospital.
