As many as 135 establishments in Maharashtra, including sugar cooperatives, industrial units, educational institutes, schools, have defaulted on depositing their Provident Fund (PF) dues of Rs 142 crore with the EPFO in 2012-13.
According to the list of defaulters, over Rs 10 lakh mark, published on the official website of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), the PF dues in Maharashtra account for 8 per cent of the total amount of default in the country.
Four co-operative sugar factories in Kolhapur district in Maharashtra also figure in the list of top fifty defaulters in the country.
Under Thane office, payment of Rs 30 crore is due from various establishments for the year ending 2013, it said.
There are 43 defaulters above Rs 10 lakh mark listed under the Thane office.
