Public sector oil marketing companies have cut petrol prices, while leaving diesel untouched. The companies have also announced a cut in the price of non-subsidised domestic LPG cylinders.
Petrol prices in Delhi have been reduced by ₹ 0.65 a litre (inclusive of taxes) from midnight September 30/October 1. The cut will vary from city to city, depending on local taxes and levies.
In Delhi, petrol will now be sold at ₹67.86 a litre. “Petrol prices have continued to show a downward trend. The current levels of international oil prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate warrant a decrease in the selling price of petrol in the domestic market,” said Indian Oil, in a statement.
The corresponding decrease in Mumbai is ₹0.68 a litre and petrol will now cost ₹75.73 a litre in that city. In Kolkata, the revised price is ₹75.46 a litre, lower by ₹ 0.68, and in Chennai the new price is ₹70.87 per litre, lower by ₹ 0.68 a litre.
Indian Oil also announced a cut in the price of non-subsidised domestic LPG cylinders. Consumers buy non-subsidised cylinders after finishing the quota of 12 subsidised cylinders a year.
In Delhi, prices of non-subsidised cylinders have been cut by ₹21 to ₹880 a cylinder, and in Mumbai the cut is ₹24, bringing the price to ₹902.50 a cylinder. In Kolkata, the price cut is ₹23 to ₹922 a cylinder and in Chennai it is down ₹23 to ₹879.50.
