Chief Secretaries of states will meet for a day in New Delhi on September 16. The conclave will have the theme 'Role of States for Making New India by 2022'.

The Cabinet Secretary of India, Pradeep K Sinha, will inaugurate the Chief Secretaries Conclave, being organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PHDCCI). Arvind Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor, and Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog will be the guests of honour.

The conclave is a prestigious event of the PHDCCI, which has been working for the socio-economic development of states with the motto, 'Strong States Make Strong Nation.'

The conclave essentially carries forward the mission of “empowering states,” to strengthen India’s federal structure of governance, according to a press release.

The participants will discuss issues such as ease of doing business, industrial development, education, skill development & employment growth, accelerating pace of smart cities. The sessions will be a harbinger of innovative ideas, replicable models of systems and good governance, where the state Chief Secretaries of India, along with captains of Indian industry would converge on a common platform to review, analyse and carve the way ahead for empowerment of the states.

Besides showcasing the best practices of different states, the conclave will also offer a powerful platform for different stakeholders from the Centre, industry, policy establishments, diplomatic corps (embassies), investors, civil society and media for an exchange of ideas.
