Hyderabad, Jan 8:
The Majlis-eIttehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA, Akbaruddin Owaisi, was arrested here on Tuesday in the hate-speech case.
Akbaruddin was arrested in the evening after he was subjected to a health examination at the Gandhi Hospital here amidst tight security.
He is facing criminal charges for his recent speeches in Nirmal and Nizamabad, where he allegedly passed provocative remarks on Hindus.
Meanwhile, security was stepped up in the Old City and other sensitive areas.
