In the first phase, the department will be operating the service on four routes — from Hyderabad to Chennai, Bangalore, Visakhapatnam and Adilabad.
S V Rao, Assistant Postmaster General, said the department has deployed eight vehicles in all these routes. The rates vary from a minimum of Re 1 per kg to a maximum of Rs 6.80 per kg from Hyderabad to Chennai.
"We expect to carry at least 15-20 kg a day on these routes after the service stabilises. We are aiming at a turnover of Rs 10 crore in the first year," he told Business Line.
