The CAI Expo 2017, which will showcase the latest technologies and products in the area of construction, architecture and design, was inaugurated on Thursday.

The 5th edition of the three-day expo, organised by BusinessLine in association with iAds & Events, will be held from September 1 to September 3 at the Chennai Trade Centre here.

It will be held in three more cities later this year. There are plans to extend it to eight cities next year.

Speaking at the inaugural event of the CAI 2017 Expo, Suresh Krishn, President, Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI), said: “It is one of the events where you get to see all the products related to the construction industry under the same roof.” It also provides an opportunity to interact with industry professionals and learn about the latest developments in the industry, he added.

Growth potential

Raghuvir Srinivasan, Senior Associate Editor, BusinessLine , said the construction industry is the second largest revenue generator in the country, providing a huge potential for growth.

“The B2B show is seeing tremendous response this year,” he added.

John Gomez, General Manager - HR, Doosan Bobcat India Pvt Ltd, said that with urbanisation catching up, satellite townships are cropping up in rural areas.

As a company engaged in the compact machinery space, the expo gives it the opportunity to create awareness to building a community, he added. Doosan Bobcat is engaged in the power and construction sector.

Babu PM, General Manager - Sales, Oyster Bath Concepts Pvt Ltd, said the expo gives greater visibility to the company, for which Chennai is a relatively new market. “We are planning to launch new products and technologies in the bath space,” he added.

“We are also planning to launch more products that promote water conservation.”

K Anantharaman, Chief Operations Officer, Trott, which is in the floor covering space, agreed with him on gaining greater visibility. “As a new player we want to reach a wider audience,” he added.

For Technoraill, which operates in the railing system space, it is an opportunity to understand the market and meet companies that will be relevant to them.

“CAI 2017 is an ideal opportunity to access major developers, contractors and clients procuring work,” said Pradeep Dubey, Regional Sales Head, Technoraill.

Sharmila Kumbhat, Managing Director, K-Lite, said: “The platform offers opportunities to exhibit and create a name for themselves in the global market.
