EXD Projects & Excel Dwellings, a Bengaluru-based developer, has announced the launch of a sports city - Codename Five Rings.
The project, involving a township, is to come up on 100 acres near Sarjapur and will have Olympics standard facilities, styled apartments, plush villas, and professional amenities with sports counselling programs.
Vivekananda Revaiah, Director of EXD Projects, said “It is a private project on private land. The company is going it alone with an estimated investment of ₹25 crore.”
“The company initially explored partnership, bank or PE funding. But later, we believed that we can fund it ourselves. However, we are keeping the option of partnering with banks open, if necessary, at a later stage,” he added.
The proposed project is similar to the existing sports complexes like in Jamshedpur or the government-owned SAI.
He claimed that the sports city will consist a FIFA standard size football field, Olympic size swimming pool, badminton and tennis courts, fitness centre and many indoor activities such as squash, billiards and table tennis.
Krathish Bopanna, Director, EXD, said, “Sports has become a serious career option today. As per our research, around 65 per cent of Bengaluru’s corporate citizens are inclined towards fitness and sports.”
“With these initiatives, Codename Five Rings will give the professional as well as the weekend sportsperson ample scope for professional training and practice, whilst being in premium and comfortable living spaces with the entire family,” he added.
