Kerala Government will develop an Oceanarium and Marine Biological park in Ernakulam for the study and management of marine resources and eco tourism.
State Fisheries Minister K.Babu said the total project cost is Rs 480 crore and the environment impact study would commence soon.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the national seminar on ‘Law and Policy on Fisheries Conservation and Management Issues and Challenges’ here.
He said the seasonal fishing ban being pursued today is an important strategy of fisheries conservation and management.
This measure has now been adopted by other coastal States and has led to a system of ‘Uniform Trawl – Ban’ in the territorial waters of the State during monsoon .
