An MoU has been signed between Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Veterinary University and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for growing breeder seed.

“While the university would provide land and other needed resources for growing breeder seed, ICAR would provide technical input followed by monitoring of the growth,” University Vice Chancellor A C Varsaney told reporters today.

“Thus, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Veterinary University has become the first veterinary university of the country to enter into such MoU with ICAR”, said Varsaney, who signed the MoU in presence of Dean S K Garg.

Joint Director Research Prabhu, in the presence of DG S Ayyapan, signed the MoU for ICAR, an autonomous organisation under Ministry of Agriculture and the apex body for coordinating, guiding and managing research and education in agriculture including horticulture, fisheries and animal sciences in the country.

Under the agreement, in the first phase 50 acres of land would be made available. However, in the second phase 250 acres of land from Madhuri Kund Farm, Pasture and Krishi Vikas Kendra would be made available, he said, adding the success of agreement would raise a new ray of hope.

It would not only pave the way for increase in quality and capacity in field of Agriculture and Veterinary but would make breeder seed easily available to farmers of the area, he said.

University Dean S K Garg said while the farmers would benefit in the form of scientific advise they would get through university and the university would get recognition at national level. It would also increase the income of the university, he added.
