Smartworks, a co-working office space provider, will expand its presence in Chennai and is also looking at Coimbatore and Madurai.

The company recently opened its first shared workspace in Chennai and will open another centre in the Old Mahabalipuram Road soon. So far, ₹20 crore has been invested in the city, according to a press release. Neetish Sarda, Founder, Smartworks, said in the press statement that Chennai has witnessed a rapid growth from different sectors such as IT/ITES, banking and automobile and auxiliary manufacturing and the overall market sentiment is becoming more receptive and matured towards shared workspaces. This is what is making Smartworks to further expand its operations in the State.

‘Guindy well-connected’

The centre in Guindy in southern part of the city is 45,000 sq ft and capacity is over 900 seats with amenities such as cafeteria cum lounge, gaming room, gym, medical room, meeting rooms, conference rooms, AV lounge, concierge services and fortnightly community events.

“Guindy is the hub for small- and medium-sized companies and is extremely well-connected through all modes of transport making it one of the most desired locations for setting up a serviced office space,” Sarda added.

Smartworks presently has 16 centres across nine cities covering more than nine lakh sq ft. It plans to expand to 3 million sq ft in over 20 tier-1 and 2 cities by the 2020. The company has invested ₹150 crore so far.
