Nearly 80 people participating in the Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar (BCIM) car rally were given a send-off by Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh in Imphal on Wednesday.
The historic car rally from Kolkata to Kunming (China) was flagged off by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on February 22. The rally is now on its sixth stage from Imphal to Ka Lay in Myanmar.
The 12-day rally will end in Kunming in the Yunnan province of China on March 5.
Sponsored by Tata Motors, ONGC and Autocar, and supported by the Governments of these four countries, the BCIM car rally is being organised and coordinated by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with several government departments, agencies and industrial houses.
According to Singh, the car rally would help spread the message of cooperation and foster friendship among the BCIM countries.
