Exactly 130 years after the first Test match took place at Lord’s cricket ground, India registered its second historic win on July 21. Commonly known as the ‘Home of Cricket’, Lord’s cricket ground hosted its first three-day Test match between England and Australia from July 21-23 1884.

Till now, the ground has witnessed 129 Test matches involving 10 nations. England still tops the Test wins at Lord’s ground compared to other countries. England played 127 matches on this ground, won 50 of them and lost in 29.

The Oz effect Australia that played 37 Test matches, won 16 of them and lost seven matches. Interestingly, Australia is the only country to have played against South Africa and Pakistan at Lord’s in 1912 and 2010, respectively. The Aussies won these matches.

The 1912 Test match between Australia and S Africa was part of a triangular tournament involving England. It was a three-day event from July 15-17 1912. A century later, Australia played a Test match against Pakistan in July 2010 at Lord’s as part of MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) ‘Spirit of Cricket’ Test series.

Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have not registered a win in Test matches at Lord’s, and each lost two matches against England on that ground. India, which played 17 Test matches at Lord’s, has won only two, and lost 11. Of the 16 Test matches played by South Africa at Lord’s, five ended in a win and the nation conceded defeat in seven matches.

Three of the 14 Test matches played by Pakistan at Lord’s resulted in win. It lost in five matches. After playing 16 Test matches at Lord’s, New Zealand has been able to register only one win till now. It was defeated in seven matches. While the West Indies recorded four wins from 20 Test matches played at Lord’s, they lost nine matches.
