Sachin Tendulkar fell victim to a poor umpiring decision as West Indies off-spinner Shane Shillingford wreaked havoc with a sensational four-wicket haul to leave India gasping at 120 for five in the first cricket Test, here today.

Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (21) and debutant Rohit Sharma (16) were at the crease at lunch on day two of the match, which was hanging in balance with India still trailing the West Indies by 114 runs.

India could have been in more deep trouble had Denesh Ramdin not dropped Dhoni off Darren Sammy when the batsman was on individual score of 12.

Shillingford (4/53) was impressive as he troubled the famed Indian batting line-up with his accurate line and length but Tendulkar was very unlucky to be adjudged leg before by umpire Nigel Llong.

Shillingford undoubtedly beat the retiring-legend with a ’doosra’ but the ball hit Tendulkar high on the back thigh and the TV replays suggested that the ball would have gone over the stumps.

Tendulkar (10) looked in good touch as he hit two magnificent boundaries before umpire cut short his stay at the crease. As he walked back, Tendulkar got a standing ovation from the crowd at Eden Gardens.

Anticipating Tendulkar’s arrival, the crowd had cheered lustily as soon as Murali Vijay (26) was stumped by Ramdin off Shillingford, who completed his 50 Test scalps today.

It looked odd but not surprising that the fans cheered fall of wicket as it brought the iconic batsman at the crease.

Debutant Sheldon Cottrell too opened his account when Cheteshwar Pujara (17) attempted to hit a rising delivery over wicketkeeper’s head but managed a thin edge, enough to pack him off.
