The 10th edition of IESA Vision Summit 2015, to be held in Bengaluru on February 2 and 3, will see the presence of Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh.

This year’s theme, ‘Make in India – Vision to Reality,’ focuses on steering India towards global leadership in electronics manufacturing and the theme address will be delivered by K Radhakrishnan, former chairman of ISRO, on the opening day.

“The country’s contribution to global electronics manufacturing is just around 1.3 per cent at present.

“The thrust of this year’s summit will be on implementation and ironing out all the issues that start-ups and manufacturers in ESDM face and five sessions have been dedicated to this,” M N Vidyashankar, President IESA, told BusinessLine .

West Bengal, Maharashtra, Kerala, Orissa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh have confirmed participation and over 700 CEOs, CTOs and CIOs are expected to attend. Country participation will see UK (with the biggest delegation of 14 companies), Taiwan, Japan and Singapore attending the summit.

Speed Dating To turn the ‘Make in India’ vision into reality, a 90-minute speed dating session will be held, wherein 30 ESDM start-ups in the areas of medical electronics, smart cities and energy management, will get three to five minutes each to interact with mentors. “We have roped in academic mentors like Professor Sadagopan, Director of IIIT-Bangalore, business mentors like Hemant Kanakia who is a serial entrepreneur from the US and Vivek Pawar, founder of Sankalp Semiconductor along with a host of VCs and Angel investors,” said Vidyashankar.

Another highlight of the summit is going to be Amarendra Sinha, Special Secretary & Development Commissioner, MSME. “He will have one-on-one interactions with members and delegates where he will spell out prospects for start-ups and the help that MSME can extend to them. One such initiative is the MSME Tool Room & Training Centre that is coming up in Devanahalli next to the International airport at an investment of ₹100 crore.

This will be set up in the civic amenities site within the aerospace park, Devanahalli. When completed it will have the capacity to train 3,000 people at a time in 15-90 day modules on live industry projects” said Vidyashankar.
